CTC to Manufacture Prototype Combat Vehicle Hulls for Army; Ed Sheehan Comments

Ed Sheehan

Concurrent Technologies Corp. has won a potential five-year, $7.5 million contract to help the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center design and manufacture prototype hulls for the military branch’s Next Generation Combat Vehicle.

CTC said Tuesday it will support the production of Hull Frame Body Cab hulls and help TARDEC perform ballistic, fatigue and other qualification tests under the “Friction Stir Welded Hull Manufacturing Prototype” contract.

The team will also conduct additional tests to determine potential modifications that can increase the performance and manufacturability of HFBC hull prototypes, the company noted.

Ed Sheehan, president and CEO of CTC, said the company aims to add value to the NGCV program and assist TARDEC in efforts to boost the Army’s mission effectiveness through advanced manufacturing processes.

CTC secured the award through the Defense Automotive Technologies Consortium and the company will conduct work under the contract through Sept. 27, 2022.

Science Applications International Corp. will lead a DATC group that won a potential eight-year, $237 million contract in September to help the Army build and demonstrate two identical NGCV demonstrators.
