We are targeting to manufacture 2 lakh to 3 lakh smartphone units a year: Gopal Jiwarajka, CMD, Salora International

Salora recently also forayed into the offline channel while continuing its presence in the online channel and will be expecting 80% of its sales coming from the offline segment. The company will be targeting customers state-wise where the focus will be on all kinds of customers in every city.
Calling the Indian handset market crowded and competitive, Jiwarajka told that the company would like to be known for its quality products in a market swamped with handset players offering products at competitive prices.
“India is a huge market which is both good and bad at the same time, because it's a huge market thereby everybody wants to be here. The good part is that even a small share of the pie is large enough for one to make a viable business,” said Jiwarajka.
“There are two ways to place a product in the market, you can either drop the product quality and drop the price as well, or one can offer a good quality product at a high prices. We do not want to drop the quality and at the same time we're looking to hit a price point which offers value for money to the customers,” he added.
Talking about device bundling trends with telcos, Jiwarajka explained that device partnerships may act as a limiting factor since a brand tying up with one particular telco loses the possibility of selling to the other telco.
When asked about the company’s investment plans, Jiwarajka said, “Most of our manufacturing infrastructure is already in place, we don't need to invest much, whatever we need to invest will be on product development. Fortunately for us, we've already invested in the past, we can reap the benefits of it now.”
