Missouri Job Center to Host Manufacture's Roundtable Discussion

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Springfield area manufacturers will gather to discuss workforce needs and challenges experienced in the industry at a roundtable discussion scheduled for later this week.

The Missouri Job Center will host the discussion on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 a.m. at 2900 E. Sunshine Street.

According to the job center's press release, more than 35 companies will be present to discuss the issues pertinent to manufacturers including promotion of the industry as a whole in the region, lack of a skilled workforce, and retaining qualified workers.

“The feedback we get from these roundtables allows us to develop programs helpful to manufacturers and gives us direction on how we can help guide training for the workforce of the future,” said Dennis Wiggins, Business Services Supervisor for the Job Center.

The Missouri Job Center is working with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, Ozarks Technical Community College and Springfield Public Schools to develop a plan for promoting the industry.
