Man jailed for alleged manufacture of improvised explosive devices - News3LV

LVMPD has a California man in custody facing a long list of felony charges including the alleged manufacture of IED‘s.

Michael Thomas Diosdado was arrested on Dec. 19 near Nellis Boulevard and Monroe Avenue after officers initially discovered several homemade fireworks.

According to the arrest report, subsequent searches of his home revealed several devices described by investigators as dangerous made from PVC pipe.

Investigator says they also found a long list of equipment used as a forgery lab.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson says, based on the arrest report, Diosdado was up to no good.

"I think the bigger picture here is Mr. Diosdado had a fascination with explosives," Wolfson said. "And, the primary compound referred to as TATP is extremely volatile and dangerous, and he was making explosives with this compound."

Wolfson also commented on other items found during the police search.

"The forgery lab and the fraudulent documents, and the fraudulent identifications, are not as serious obviously, but combined, he was allegedly up to no good and there's a concern."

Sources tell News 3, there is no reason at this time to suspect Diosdado was involved in any type of plot or conspiracy and was acting alone.

Diosdado is expected to remain behind bars, at least until his preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 9. He is currently facing more than two dozen felony charges, including the alleged possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
