Three arrested for alleged manufacture of explosive devices in Opelousas - KATC Lafayette News

The Opelousas Police Department says they have arrested three people for allegedly manufacturing improvised explosive devices in Opelousas.

Police Chief Martin McClendon says that information shared with police on January 26 led to an investigation into the location of several pipe bombs.

Through the investigation, the department was led to search a home in the 900 block of Eddins Street in Opelousas. Three individuals were arrested in connection with that search.

The following were arrested and booked into the Opelousas Jail.

Police did not say for what purpose the pipe bombs were made or how many were found during the investigation. The bombs were disposed of by the department with the help of Louisiana State Police Emergency Services Unit.

McClendon says the investigation is ongoing and that more arrests are expected.
