The Anglo-Dutch multinational, Unilever Global, is set to start manufacturing its signature toothpaste product “Signal” within Ethiopia, no longer importing its products from aboard. The expansion is to take place within its facility inside the Eastern Industrial Zone, The Reporter has learnt.
The company is set to call a press conference to make its “major” announcement next week and reveal details of its expansion.
In the meantime, the company is set to mark World Oral Health Day by highlighting the importance of better hygiene among youth by educating more than 200,000 students in different schools for 15 consecutive days, about the value of oral health.
It will also hold a blood donation, offer free dental care day for children living in Joy Autism Center and distribute free tooth brush and toothpaste to young people on March 20th.
With a motto of “by keeping your oral health, ensure your body’s well-being,” the company is to coordinate its efforts with the Ethiopian Dental Association.
The initial factory was built at a cost of EUR 13 million and was inaugurated last year producing products such as soaps as it became its 90th factory in the world. It has since created more than 100 permanent jobs.
