Boulder police are investigating a break-in at a north Boulder bike shop that resulted in almost 20 stolen bicycles.
Boulder Cycle Sport, 4580 North Broadway, posted on its Facebook page that the break-in happened at around 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Boulder police spokesman Dean Cunningham said police believed two suspects used landscaping rocks to smash a window and enter the business.
Surveillance footage posted by Cycle Sport shows the two suspects then systematically passing bikes through the window.
Cycle Sports said in all, 18 bikes were stolen from the store.
“The burglary has been a tough blow, but we will survive,” the shop posted on Facebook. “It was unnerving to see how precise the thieves were despite having cameras, security system, strategic barricading of the windows and placement of high-end bikes in hard to get locations.
“We ask that you go out and support your local bike shop this holiday season. The bicycle retail business is extremely tough in the winter and these businesses support the local workforce, contribute to the Boulder tax base and give back to cycling advocacy in tremendous ways.”
Boulder police are still investigating the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Boulder police Officer P. Gignac at 303-441-3315.
