According to a report by Apple Insider, Apple chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has already secured orders for Apple A14 Bionic that is expected to power the iPhone 2020 lineup later this year. The chips will succeed the A13 Bionic that was unveiled with the iPhone 11 series last year and will compete with chips like the Snapdragon 865 and Exynos 990.
The Apple A14 Bionic will be manufactured using TSMC’s new 5nm production process. In comparison, the A13 Bionic was made on a 7nm production process. This new 5nm EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography) process will offer a 1.8-times logic density improvement and a 15-percent gain on ARM Cortex-A72 cores.
According to Digitimes, TSMC will remain to be the sole manufacturer of the chips for Apple. The Taiwanese chipmaker is expected to use up to 2/3rds of its 5nm production capacity to produce the A14 Bionic chips for Apple’s upcoming iPhones. The production is expected to start in the second quarter this year.

According to credibly Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is expected to release 4 smartphones later this fall. The phones are expected to feature a refreshed design as the current design was originally introduced in 2017 with the launch of the iPhone X. Apple is also said to be working on 5G-enabled iPhones that will be a part of the “iPhone 12” lineup.
Apart from the “iPhone 12” lineup, Apple is soon expected to lift the veils of its successor to the original iPhone SE: the iPhone SE 2. The phone is expected to feature a design similar to that of the iPhone 8 that was launched in 2017. But like the SE, the phone will have the latest internals. It's likely that the phone will be powered by the A13 Bionic that was introduced with the iPhone 11 series. The phone is expected to be priced at $399 and will help Apple boost its falling iPhone sales.
