TAIPEI, Taiwan (BRAIN) — Multiple sources in Taiwan and the U.S. tell BRAIN that next month's Taipei Cycle show has been canceled. Exhibitors and other potential visitors have told show organizers they were reluctant to attend because of the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak in China.

The show has not made an official statement. A representative for the show's organizer, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, told BRAIN earlier this week to expect an announcement Friday. The show's website also indicates there will be an update Friday. By 10 p.m. Friday Taipei time, there was no update on the site.
According to one source, exhibitors who made deposits for the 2020 show will have that deposit automatically extended to the 2021 show.
That source also said that some industry members are planning a small "professional" bike show to be held at Taipei's Nangang Hall 2 May 14-16 this year. Although Nangang is the venue for Taipei Cycle, the May event will not be organized by TAITRA or officially connected to the Taipei Cycle.
