Cape Town Cycle Tour road closures on 7 to 8 March 2020 - The South African

The 2020 edition of the Cape Town Cycle Tour takes place in the coming weekend, with thousands of riders taking part.

Sunny skies await the riders ahead of what is known as the world’s biggest timed cycle race, while motorists might have to find alternate routes throughout the weekend.

The race will start at the Cape Town CBD at noon, with various streets in the area closed off over the next two days.

The organisers have published a comprehensive guide for all the road closures that will be in effect on Saturday and Sunday.

Cape Town CBD 

• Castle Street between Strand Street & Darling Street 
• Darling Street between Lower Plein & Buitenkant Street 
•  Strand Street & Newmarket Street between Lower Plein Street & Russel Road 
• Nelson Mandela Boulevard incoming Strand Street off-ramp 

Greenpoint 

• Helen Suzman Boulevard from Beach Road to Traffic Circle (City-bound carriageway), 

Noordhoek

• Chapman’s Peak Drive (M6) and Noordhoek Road (M6) to Princess Street 

Closures on Sunday, 8 March

Cape Town CBD

• Strand Street & Newmarket Street between Adderley Street & Russel Road
• Darling Street between Adderley Street & Canterbury Street 
• Sir Lowry Rd between Canterbury Street & Christiaan Barnard Street

Woodstock, University Estate

• Phillip Kgosana Drive (M3) o Outbound between Roodebloem Road and Hospital Bend. Traffic will be diverted to Main Road 

Woodstock CBD

• Nelson Mandela Boulevard (N2) Eastbound

Hospital Bend (N2, M3) Interchange 

• Settlers Way (N2) to Muizenberg (M3) ramp (Southbound) 
• M3 on-ramp from Groote Schuur Hospital (Anzio Road – Southbound)
