Dublin city council will “put on hold” one of the main cycling infrastructure projects on the south side of the city, putting in its place a “reduced cost” interim route.
The Grand Canal cycle scheme for a continuous, segregated bike lane along the canal seeks to link the cycle route that runs from Grand Canal Dock to Portobello with the path along the canal that runs from Suir Road out towards Clondalkin and into Co Kildare.
It has a two-way cycle path from Portobello to Grand Canal Dock that has been open since 2012 but a city council document seen by The Times suggests that the project has stalled, saying that “no progress” has been made. Under January’s “activities and deliverables” for the scheme the
