The Living Well Foundation, a local nonprofit public charity, is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of its service area parishes, and during this national crisis of COVID-19 challenges and risks, the Foundation recognizes the need for immediate response and recovery.
In that light, the Living Well Foundation announces a Special Funding Cycle to receive applications addressing the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. This cycle will open April 6 through the online Grant Application menu on the Foundation’s website, livingwellfoundation.net, and will end Aug. 15. Grant awards will be up to $20,000, with an initial allocation by the Foundation up to $200,000 for this grant program.
Qualifying organizations must be designated as nonprofit, state or federal organization, or public education. The service area for this cycle includes the parishes of Caldwell, Franklin, Jackson, Lincoln, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland and Union.
The ideal proposal will define how the grant will assist to mitigate community issues due to the COVID-19 crisis, disaster response, and recovery. The Foundation is seeking projects that can be implemented immediately but may execute over time to address specific needs resulting from the crisis.
Only applications which address the following priorities will be considered:
- Support to providers’ ability/capacity to diagnose and treat COVID-19 patients
- Medical supplies, testing supplies, and personal protective equipment for COVID-19 prevention and treatment use
- Telehealth medicine and counseling services, whether equipment, personnel, or supplies, related to COVID-19 care/issues or due to inability to go to doctor visits
- Support to people losing jobs/household income or incurring additional costs due to COVID-19 crisis
- Food supply and distribution for children and elderly related to COVID-19 impact and closure of schools and centers where typically provided
- Childcare and child education services related to shut down or COVID-19 isolation requirements
- Creative or innovative new health or supportive services as a response to the impact of COVID-19 to society and health/wellbeing
All applications should be submitted through the online software portal on the LWF website, and all applications will be considered as long as funds allow through the ending date.
The Living Well Foundation was created from the sale of Glenwood Regional Medical Center in 2006, and earnings from the invested proceeds are used for grants and initiatives in the eight-parish service area for the benefit of the public.
