JACKSON, MI -- The Jackson Area Manufacturers Association’s president has stepped down to take on a new role, but a familiar face is stepping in to lead the organization.
Bill Rayl has left his presidency at JAMA to join the Michigan Manufacturers Association as its executive director of workforce solutions. In his nearly 19 years at JAMA, Rayl developed numerous programs and partnerships to help Jackson manufacturers attract, retain and develop a world-class workforce.
“It was just one of those positions that came along, and after 19 years with JAMA, I decided this was an opportunity I could not pass up,” Rayl said.
JAMA is a nonprofit association of manufacturers and associate members located or doing business in Jackson County. The organization focuses on helping improve the manufacturing climate of south-central Michigan as a leading provider of technology information, training, workforce and economic development support services.
While Rayl is leaving JAMA, he said he will continue his work with MMA in helping to develop new partnerships and collaborations to empower Michigan manufacturers.
However, Rayl is not leaving JAMA with empty hands. Since his departure, JAMA is reorganizing its leadership structure.
“The staff there at JAMA know what they’re doing and have a handle on it,” Rayl said. “I’m fully confident they’re going to take the organization way beyond where I left.”
JAMA now will be led by its vice president Olivia Steele, who has been a part of the organization about11 years, and said she is ready to take on the leadership position. The organization has also created and hired Adriane Earl as a marketing and membership coordinator to help with operations.
JAMA will keep a strong focus on training in the transition of its leadership, Steele said.
“I’m excited to be able to take JAMA to the next level,” Steele said. “Training has always been my baby, and so I have been able to keep that with this transition, and I am excited.”
