MANILA, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Manufacturing production in the Philippines sustained growth in September, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Tuesday.
Based on the preliminary results of a monthly survey, the PSA said the year-on-year value of production index (VaPI) and the volume of production index (VoPI) increased 10 percent and 2.4 percent in September, respectively.
The PSA attributed the VaPI growth in September to the positive growth of 15 of 22 industry divisions led by manufacture of machinery and equipment except electrical products, which posted the highest annual increase of 86.3 percent.
On the other hand, seven industry divisions posted decrements in production, with manufacture of electrical equipment registering the fastest annual decline of 53.5 percent.
The agency also attributed the positive growth of VoPI in September to 13 divisions led by manufacture of machinery and equipment except electrical products, with a 90 percent annual growth rate.
On the contrary, nine industry divisions posted annual decreases led by manufacture of electrical equipment, exhibiting the fastest yearly drop of 54.7 percent. ■
