A 21-year-old Alma man charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse has pleaded guilty in Marion County Court to a reduced charge of manufacture of harmful materials.
Jordan Owens of Garfield Street was placed on two years probation, given credit for two days served in jail, have no contact with the victim and undergo sex offender and mental health evaluation and counseling.
The harmful materials charge claims by use of a cell phone he distributed to a minor under the age of 18 a text message containing detailed verbal descriptions of a sexual nature.
Marion County Sheriff's Deputies say Owens had first met the then 14-year-old girl on Facebook and made arrangements to pick her up at her home. The girl later went to a teacher when she thought she was pregnant. The incident was then reported to the girl's mother and sheriff's deputies.
