Morganton man sentenced for trying to manufacture meth

A Morganton man could spend up to seven years in prison for attempting to make methamphetamine, according to a press release from the District Attorney’s Office.

Jason Robert Ford, 36, pleaded guilty to attempted manufacturing of methamphetamine and possession/distribution of meth precursors during Burke County Superior Court on Thursday, the release said.

The Burke County Narcotics Task Force and probation officers searched Ford’s home in November 2016 and found the remainder of a methamphetamine cooking pot under his sink, according to the release. Other items used to make meth also were found.

The items were sent to a lab for testing, and methamphetamine was found on all the items, the release said.

Judge Robert C. Ervin issued Ford’s prison sentence, which will last between five and seven years.
