France's ASN regulator says manufacture of nuclear components can resume at Creusot

PARIS, Jan 25 (Reuters) - France’s ASN nuclear regulator said on Thursday it had informed state controlled utility EDF and its nuclear unit Framatome that the manufacture of nuclear components could restart at their Creusot foundry, under certain conditions.

The regulator said in a statement that manufacturing could resume after actions were taken to correct some malfunctions at the plant. The lapses led to a widespread probe of components and other manufacturing devices in French nuclear reactors.

The ASN said it will maintain a reinforced surveillance of activities at the plant for the time being. (Reporting by Bate Felix; Editing by Sudip Kar-Gupta)
