Manufacture Plant looks to bring new jobs to Decatur

DECATUR (WAND) - Four of the main targeted industries are in Decatur; transportation, advanced manufacturing and bio-technology. Ryan McCrady, who looks into business expansion and attraction in Decatur, said Getzner can have a positive impact to the city. Getzner said it is looking to plant elastic bearings for railway traffic and products from high-tech materials.

Since the new production facility is expected to bring in jobs, a statement from the company said in part:

"For the first two years, employees from Buers, Austria will gradually train with their new colleagues."

"Foreign investments directed into the United States, specifically Decatur is good for Decatur," McCrady said.

The Austria made company is known to work projects in bigger cities including: Queens and Manhattan, New York. McCrady said a plant's success is inviting for companies to look into working out of Central Illinois. In his opinion, McCrady said Getzner will be able to make many investments in Decatur and the economic impact will expand.
