BENTONVILLE — A Northwest Arkansas cardiologist has been suspended indefinitely from Mercy Hospital after his arrest earlier this week.
Robert Joseph Stuppy, 60, was arrested Tuesday in connection with a Missouri warrant, Rogers Police Department spokesman Keith Foster said.
Benton County jail documents show the arrest warrant was in connection with the manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon.
"Mercy administrators have been made aware of serious criminal charges alleged against Dr. Robert Stuppy," said Jennifer Cook, a senior media relations and communications specialist. "Based on the charges brought against him, the decision was made to suspend Dr. Stuppy indefinitely. He has been relieved of all clinical and administrative duties pending an internal review of this matter."
