Cycle for Sight supports eye research - WKOW

MADISON (WKOW) -- Cyclists in Madison stayed indoors on Saturday and pedaled hard to raise money for eye research.

It was the 2020 Cycle for Sight at area gyms, to support the McPherson Eye Institute at UW.

The event started nine years ago as a way to raise money and bring awareness to the important research happening here in Wisconsin.

"We thought, let's do an indoor bike ride. Wisconsin, winter. End of winter, we're not necessarily going to want to be outside. We also wanted to do something blind and visually-impaired people can participate in as well," said Michael Chaim, with the McPherson Eye Research Institute.

The event has raised more than $250,000 in the last eight years for vision research at UW-Madison.
