CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns have been mired in futility. The past two decades have seen this franchise serve as the NFL’s punching bag. A Cleveland comic coined FirstEnergy Stadium a “Factory of Sadness” in a viral YouTube clip. A large number of losses, terrible quarterback play and overall poor football have been produced here since the city got its second NFL team in 1999.

Eight head coaches and two interims have been at the helm since then. One of those interims, Gregg Williams, is currently presiding as the team’s head coach. Only once have the expansion Browns reached the postseason (2002).
And even the original Browns were a mess at times. When they were good in the 1980s, they broke many hearts by allowing the Denver Broncos to complete The Drive. Cleveland’s last NFL title came all the way back in 1964, which was just two years before the Super Bowl era.
