Open Orphan PLC said Wednesday that its subsidiary has signed a substantial contract with a top-five global pharmaceutical client to manufacture a virus for use in human challenge studies.
The pharmaceutical-services and research company didn't provide a figure for the contract, but said manufacturing activities have begun and are expected to complete by the end of the third quarter of 2022, with revenue to be recognized this year.
The company is optimistic that a characterization study and substantial human challenge study will follow the completion of manufacturing.
The manufacture of new challenge viruses ensures the company has contemporary challenges agents that meet the needs of the pharmaceutical industry, and will help continue to enhance and expand its offering of human challenge studies, it said.
Shares at 0708 GMT were up 0.8 pence, or 6% at 14.0 pence.
